Little Shaver Pencil Sharpener, circa: 1904
This is an all cast brass pencil shaver (pointer) from 1904. It is named "The Little Shaver". It does have a patent date of March 29, 1904 recessed into the bottom of the sharpener. One uses it by moving the blade holder up and down to shave the wood and the lead until the desired point is achieved. It is full and complete and working as intended. It still has its original blade and was designed so that most safety razor blades of that time could be used as replacement blades. The base piece has an approximate 3.25 inch diameter. We estimate its condition rating at 2,2.
