Antique Tobacco Cutters

Item# 8PAT901 General Store Tobacco Cutter

This antique tobacco cutter was used in general stores to cut plug tobacco to order. At one time it was popular to purchase plug tobacco by the inch and this device was used to cut to the desired inch(s) being purchased. It is cast iron and has the remants of its original label and is in good working order. The cutter is 12 inches long and about 6 inches deep. We believe it dates back to around the turn-of-the-19th century.

Item# 7K 336 Tobacco Cutter

This is a General Store tobacco cutter used to cut plug tobacco to the desired inch being purchased. This item dates back to around the turn-of-the-19th century when it was the custom to purchase plug tobacco by the inch. The cutter is cast iron on a wooden platform. It is marked "patent pending" and is about 11.5 inches long and 5.5 inches wide.

Item#7PAT861 Cigar Maker and Cutter

This cigar maker and cutter dates from the mid to the later part of the 19th century. It features a butcher block type of wooden work surface and a cast iron cutter. The cigar maker would hand roll cigars on the wooden work table and then cut them to desired uniforn lengths. The wooden work table portion is made from solid wood pieces 1.75" thick, 9.25 inches wide and the table is 13.5 inches long. The work surface does have age cracks and a warm patina. The cutter portion is cast metal and while it does have some surface tarnish, it has no pits and functions well and as intended.
